How do I turn on my firewall within Mac OS X?

Firewall software helps guard your computer against potentially harmful content on the internet. It is a requirement to have firewall software enabled to register and use your computer on the MCLA dorm network.

The following instructions outline how to turn on your firewall for Mac OS X users.

1. Click the “System Preferences” icon in your dock. The icon looks like the following:

2. Click “Sharing” under the “Internet & Network” section

3. To start the Firewall click the "Start" button – the Firewall status will change from off to on.
