Brief Description and Possible Uses

Canvas is integrated with a number of third party web services. Most of these services can be configured from the user profile page.

So, with Google Docs, I can initiate and create Google Docs within the Canvas Interface, and take the people within my course to create the appropriate access policy over there. As a student I can directly turn in a Google Doc, directly as an assignment.

With twitter, we can link over to your profile so that people can easily go to twitter and follow you over there

Skype would allow other users within the course that are enrolled in the same course as you to call you on Skype.

Facebook we use for both messaging so that as notifications happen within the system, we can send them to you on facebook or, if after we’ve taken the course we decide that, we’re actually friends now, then we can actually look each other up on facebook and become friends within the appropriate place on the social network

LinkedIn is very popular within the business schools.

Delicious allows you to integrate the different tags and what not you have in your Delicious account within the course content.

Diigo is a bookmarking tool for education that if you have an account there you can also include that in any of your course content.

Now with these registered services, there’s different ways to contact you across them. And by default we do not disclose this to the other users within the system unless you give us your consent. If you check this box here, then if someone is enrolled in a course with you they can see these different services and be your friend like add
