How do I fix my webcam?

Go to your assignment and pull up your media webcam window.

The first thing is to check the drop down box and choose your webcam from the options.

If you camera is chosen, please try the following.

  1. Right click on the black webcam window on the right
  2. Choose Settings
  3. Remove the check mark next to Remember (no check mark present, skip to below)
  4. Close out of the Flash settings box and logout of Canvas
  5. Log back in and try your webcam again.

No check mark present:

  1. Dump your browser cache
  2. Dump your browser cookies
  3. Restart your browser
  4. Login to Canvas and try webcam again.

If no camera appears - black box:

  1. Click "Record Media Comment" from your assignment
  2. Choose "Webcam" from the left
  3. Click "Allow" on the Flash Player pop-up box, if the box does not appear, skip to next step.
  4. Right click on the black webcam window on the right
  5. Choose Settings
  6. Click the bottom tab that looks like an eye in a monitor.
  7. Put a dot next to "Allow"
  8. Put a check mark next to "Remember"
  9. Click the bottom tab that looks like a webcam (far right tab)
  10. From the drop-down choose "USB Video Class Video"
  11. Close out of the Flash settings box, your webcam should be working.
