MCLA has partnered with WestFax, a cloud-based fax service that integrates with MCLA Email and BlazerPrint Copiers.  Faxing a document can now be done by simply sending an e-mail. Users can also receive faxes securely that go directly to their MCLA mailbox. Users who have a paper document to fax can still do so on any BlazerPrint Copier on campus. The following instructions will walk through these various options.

MCLA has partnered with WestFax, a cloud-based fax service that integrates with MCLA Email and BlazerPrint Copiers. Faxing a document can now be done by simply sending an e-mail. Users can also receive faxes securely that go directly to their MCLA mailbox. Users who have a paper document to fax can still do so on any BlazerPrint Copier on campus. The following instructions will walk through these various options.

Sending a Fax

Via Email Attachment

  • Login to your MCLA Email via the MCLA Portal (https://portal.mcla.edu)
  • Create a new email message
  • Enter the ten-digit fax phone number with @westfax.com as the recipient's e-mail address. Example:13035551212@westfax.com
  • Enter a subject as the fax header (see WestFax Advanced Header Flags)
  • Attach the file you would like to fax. All Microsoft Office file formats, .PDF, .JPG are supported.
  • Send Email
  • You will receive a fax confirmation e-mail sent back to you when fax is sent successfully

Via BlazerPrint Copier (Paper Faxing)

  • 1. Load document in Automatic Document Feeder
  • 2. 'Tap' into BlazerPrint Copier with MCLA Photo ID.
  • 3. Select “Scan” from the homepage
  • 4. Select the "Fax Using XXX-XXX-XXXX" option. Note: Users may have multiple lines assigned to them to choose from.
  • 5. Enter the fax recipient number by pressing the '+' symbol in the lower left corner.
  • 6. Enter fax number (required), recipient name (optional), and recipient company (optional) then press 'Add Recipient' in the lower right corner.
  • 7. Press 'Start' to Send Fax
  • 8. You will receive a fax confirmation e-mail sent back to you when fax is sent successfully

Via Portal Link

  • 1. Access WestFax Fax Portal by logging in with your MCLA ID and password here. The WestFax link can also be found on the MCLA Portal via the 'Everyone' dropdown.
  • 2. Click 'Send Fax' button located in the top right corner
  • 3. Enter Fax Number or select from Contacts
  • 4. Fill out the header field (shows at the top of the Fax)
  • 5. Fill out the subject field (for metadata)
  • 6. Select Cover Page
  • 7. Select 'Browse' to add the document you would like faxed

Receiving a Fax

Via Incoming Email

  • Faculty/Staff who have been configured to receive faxes through a certain fax line will automatically receive incoming fax documents to their MCLA e-mail. The fax document will be accepted as an e-mail attachment in PDF format.

Via Portal Link

  • 1. Access WestFax Fax Portal by logging in with your MCLA ID and password here. The WestFax link can also be found on the MCLA Portal via the 'Everyone' dropdown.
  • 2. Your fax inbox will appear where you can view incoming faxes, download them as PDF files, or delete.
  • 3. Users that have multiple fax lines associated with their account can use the dropdown at the top to select which fax inbox they would like to view.
