The Academic Computing Labs at MCLA feature high-performance computers connected to the secure campus Network. Students can use these computers to print, write papers, access the Internet, check email, and use course-related software. The printer located in the walk in lab offers wireless printing capability. A HelpDesk lab monitor is available when the computer labs are open, providing assistance to lab users. The HelpDesk office hours are the same as Computer Lab hours.

Computer Labs

  • Classroom Labs (Murdock 108,109 and 119) – These labs are designated as classrooms and contain a variety of course-specific software. Students can also find these specialty software titles in room 119. When not in use for a class these rooms are open for general use. Each of the classroom labs have a projector and instructor station with speakers.
  • Freel Library Lab - There are 10 computer lab stations located on the 2nd floor of the library and 3 in the Freel study lounge room. In addition, a series of general use laptops can be loaned out for use in the library at the circulation desk.

Each room in the labs has a laser printer which can be printed to from every computer in the room. Wireless printing is also offered.

Lab Software

Typically every year the software package that is installed on the Lab computers change.

Using a Lab Computer

To login to any of the computers in the lab you are required to have a valid MyMCLA accountUser ID and Password. It is important to note that the computers in these labs are configured to automatically restore to its original state every time a reboot occurs. Any changes made to the computers settings or files saved on the computer will be gone when it restarts. It is recommended that students use their limited Network file space located on their Network drive when saving work files (The network drive is linked to "My Documents".

Food and Drink Policy

No food or drink is allowed in the Murdock computer labs. This enforced policy is to ensure the safety and protection of the equipment in the labs. It also promotes a cleaner lab environment and helps damaging liquid spills to the carpet. All lab users are required to adhere to this policy when entering the computer labs.
