How to Disable Wi-Fi Direct on Roku Devices
Roku Wi-Fi-Direct operates on the same frequency as the MCLA Wi-Fi network, resulting in significant interference. This interference can cause dropped connections, reduced bandwidth, and overall poor performance of the wireless network for all users. Additionally, some Roku models have a default feature called interference mitigation, which disrupts traffic to nearby Wi-Fi access points to enhance the local signal. These features negatively impact the performance of the MCLA wireless network.
Here is how to disable that feature so you are not causing disruption with your Roku on MCLA's wireless network:

Roku 2:
- Open Roku home screen
- Choose Settings
- From the System submenu, select Advanced system settings
- Select Device Connect
- Select Disable Device Connect
- Now you will not be able to see the Roku Wi-Fi Direct network
Roku 3:
- Open Roku home screen
- Press these 10 buttons quickly: HOME-HOME-HOME-HOME-HOME-FFWD-PLAY-REWIND-PLAY-FFWD
- Note: The HOME button is the button with a picture of a house
- Select Wireless Secret Screen
- Select Interference
- Choose None
- This should resolve the issue. You do NOT need to reboot the Roku
Roku Device Connect on Smart TVs and Older Roku Devices:
- Open Settings screen of the Roku device
- Select System
- Select Advance system settings
- Select Device connect
- Choose Disable Device Connect
- You are finished
Newer Roku Devices:
- Open Roku home screen
- Choose Settings
- Select Network
- Choose Wi-Fi then Wi-Fi Direct
- Toggle the setting to Disable
- Select OK to confirm
