A 4-year free subscription is provided to all MCLA employees and students for use on their personally owned devices. Here are the instructions on how to setup a free Sophos Home account then download and install this software.
*1. Go the MCLA/Sophos website here: https://home.sophos.com/en-us/edu/mcla.aspx and enter your MCLA email address
*2. Click “Get Sophos Home” button
*3. Open the email that was sent to your MCLA email address
*4. If you don’t have an account, click “Create Account” button
*5. Enter your first name, last name, MCLA email address, and set a password
*6. The “Unique Coupon Code” should already be pasted in the page, otherwise copy it into the page from the email
*7. Click “Create Account”
*8. Another email should be sent to your email to confirm your account
*9. Open the email and click “Confirm Email” button
*10. Another web page should open (Sophos login page) and log in with your email address and the password you set
*11. On the next page that opens, in the box that says “Protect this PC”, click the “Download” button
*12. Save the download file onto your computer and then open it
*13. On Windows, click “Yes” to allow the program to make changes to your computer
*14. The “Sophos Extractor” will install. Let it load
*15. When the Sophos installer opens, click “Install”, then let the program install
*16. After the installation is complete, click “Finish” on the last window that opens
*17. Sophos Home and Sophos Diagnostic Utility should be installed on your computer
